What’s your platform all about?

In Good Company is an online platform that provides an essential guide to the best local ethical businesses and experiences, starting first in London. It includes ethical businesses, ranging from social enterprise coffee shops and sustainable restaurants to zero-waste shops and eco hair salons.

We’re more than a list. We review every business and partner with leading accreditation providers to see where each company is on their journey to help people, the planet and/or the community.

You can search by name, type of business, mission and location. You can also create an account to save businesses so you can easily keep track of places you are interested in visiting. We’ll be adding more business, locations and functionality over the coming weeks and months, including releasing an Android and iOS app.

Our Beta is now available for everyone to use - you can try it out here

Ultimately, we are here to help you find ethical places to go and support businesses that are doing more to create a positive impact.

How it works

Where do you get the businesses and their data from?

We partner with a range of established accreditation, awards, and membership partners across the ethical, sustainable, and social enterprise landscape to source the businesses we list. We then display their marks against qualifying businesses, providing clear information on their processes.

Businesses can also apply themselves to be on the platform by completing a short form here. We review every business before it goes live.

All of the information included on a businesses’ profile is publicly available - which is key for transparency - and we draw from a large number of sources, ultimately bringing it together in one simple, easy to understand place.

Our full process is set out in our guide to classifying good businesses here.

How do you verify businesses listed on the platform?

We know that consumers are increasingly sceptical about ethical business claims, especially with the rise of ‘greenwashing', so it's important to us that we are really clear about why businesses are listed.

We verify businesses by building partnerships with established accreditation, awards, and membership partners across the ethical, sustainable, and social enterprise landscape. We then display their marks against qualifying businesses, providing clear information on their processes. Every business is also reviewed by our team before it goes live.

We have partnerships with organisations such as Good Business Charter, Living Wage Foundation, ESG Mark, Sustainable Restaurant Association Food Made Good, Small 99, Klimato, and Organisation for Responsible Businesses. By partnering with these organisations, Good Company ensures that consumers can trust and know that their money is genuinely doing good.

We have published a much more detailed guide to our standards and process which is available here

How frequently do you review businesses' ethical accreditations and memberships?

In line with most of our partners’ processes, we will review them annually at least and quarterly where possible working together with our partners. That said, we are constantly reviewing and updating our website and will make any necessary changes as soon as we are aware. We’ll also be adding more ethical accreditations, awards and marks in the future.

What do each of the different accreditations and marks mean?

On each business's page you will see the relevant ethical marks, standards and information about them. You can click on them to find out more about what they each mean, any criteria or process the business must go through to achieve them and where to find out more.
